About the show
Recognized by both critics and the public as the best performer to impersonate Phil Collins, Martin Levac (former drummer
for The Musical Box) switched from left- to right-handed drumming to better interpret and do justice to the British artist.
He has surrounded himself with the most talented musicians to present a retrospective of the hits of Phil Collins’ solo career.
During Levac’s various tours, he had the chance to meet his idol four times, twice in Montreal, at CKOI Radio in 2002 and
on the set of Radio Canada’s Tout le monde en parle in October 2010. He also shared the stage with him in Geneva in 2005.
Phil Collins was so impressed with the quality of his vocals and drumming, that at their third meeting in New York, as part
of the tour promoting his album Going Back, Collins asked Martin: “Do you want to sing tomorrow night? I would love to see
the show!”
Dance Into The Light: The Best of Phil Collins, is eight musicians on stage, more than two hours of continuous entertainment,
a lighting show inspired by the performances of Phil Collins, a perfect rendition of the character and Phil Collins’ greatest
hits (25), including: In the Air Tonight, Against All Odds, Sussudio and more ...
“Martin, the drummer... I don’t know if I ever played that good...maybe I did, but he played fantastic, and he’s got everything
I did. What I did, all the stuff with the left and right hand... is very personal and he’s kind of copied that, so it’s very
interesting. Martin
caught ALL of my personal nuances, vocally and drumming wise... it reminded me that I was good!!!”
– (Phil Collins on Swiss Radio)
“Sitting in the audience at the Theatre Outremont in Montrealwatching “Dance On A Volcano” perform the 1982 Genesis Three
Sides Live tour was a very nostalgic experience. I enjoyed it completely! All of the musicians did an excellent job recreating
the Genesis sound. Martin Levac’s portrayal of Phil Collins is amazing. Not only did his singing voice sound like Phil, but
his gestures, mannerisms, and speech pattern were totally convincing. This is the best tribute band I’ve seen!”
– (Daryl Stuermer, Genesis and Phil Collins guitarist)
“Martin Levac plays Phil Collins as good as Robert Downey Jr. played Charlie Chaplin.”
– (Ronnie Caryl, guitarist with Phil Collins)
